Happy Easter!:

Or, you know, happy Passover next week. Or whatever.

Summer job:

Speaking of work, if any of you Chicagoans with cars are looking for a summer job, the place I worked last summer is hiring and I can refer you. It wasn't a bad job, all in all, so long as you don't mind driving.

So email me if you're interested/ want to hear more about the job.

Employed for 6 more months:

Well, I have an office starting in June, doing something that will apparently involve writing lots of C code. I'm still not sure what team I'm on yet, since I have to meet with the team leaders and talk to the other intern starting at the same time as me to figure that out. Still, it's one more thing done.

I'm supposed to be writing my internal resume for this promotion cycle, but I've been really busy and I don't want to. Plus, it's not like I'm getting promoted this year anyway.

The last Metro:

We took the last Metro back last night. It's an interesting collection of people who ride the Green line to Greenbelt at 3:20 on a Sunday morning. One guy was so drunk he couldn't walk off the train. He stumbled off at West Hyattsville, then stumbled back on and back off at PG Plaza. I was reminded of the guy who walked off a Blue Line train in Chicago, threw up on the station platform, then got back on before the train left.

Then there was the guy who did the hand job motion outside our window at Fort Totten. Has that ever worked in the history of the world?

And the woman with the wide-awake child. And the couple of college kids. And no one else very interesting.

Why shuffle rocks:

You can go from "the Boxer" to Chumbawamba just like that.

ScavHunt:

First, Christian, Matt, and Susan rock.

Second, we were talking about ScavHunt the other day and couldn't remember the party theme from 2001 (that was the Devil went down on Georgia year). There were volcanoes involved. Anyone?

Third, I'm thinking of going to Chicago for ScavHunt. Well, to see people, but on ScavHunt weekend.

Penguins:

So I was thinking about penguins yesterday (side note: when I told my friends in DC this, they were like "why?" while my friends in Chicago would have been like "Yeah, and?" Though my friends here are great, I miss my Chicago friends). Anyway, I was sort of wondering how Real World: Antarctica would work. I mean, you could have the alcoholic penguin and the hot penguin and the really lazy penguin, but how would you have the dresses slutty pengin? I mean, they all wear suits, and putting booty shorts on over a suit isn't so much slutty as really tacky and it's just not the same. I fear our show is doomed.

VW Polo:

My boss got this commercial for the VW Polo emailed to him, and we watched it a bunch of times. Yeah. I thought it was hilarious.

Exciting day:

Today I:

1. Went running
2. Balanced my checkbook
3. Went to the grocery store
4. Talked to Amanda
5. Did my taxes (federal, Maryland, and Illinois. Still have to do GA)

What is weird about the taxes is that GA has a lower rate than Illinois. Because of this, if I claim I was a GA resident while in school, I owe GA $40. If I was an IL resident, GA owes me $25. Either way, Illinois gives me nothing back (why does IL have no standard deduction? My parents are taking me as a dependent for one last year, so I can't get that. It's costing me $100 in MD, $20 in IL, about $5 in GA, and about $150 on my federal return. Oh well, next year...)

Anyway, I'm getting back $425 from the feds, $25 from GA, and $50 from MD. Not too bad, I can sure use it.

Stuff:

So for about 4 inches of snow, I got 16 hours off of work. That would never have happened in Chicago.

But now my routine is all messed up and I need to work some extra hours, so I have enough leave to go to Romania. In one month and 4 days. Yayy!
